Appropriate tees will be assigned dependent upon final handicaps. The competition is round-robin 9-hole four-ball match play. Each team plays all the other teams in the flight for a total of five 9-hole matches. Teams that have a course handicap difference of greater than 8 strokes will be reduced to 8. Match play rules apply. Handicaps in effect July 18, 2009 will be used The player with the lowest handicap in each match will play at 'scratch' while the others will receive the full difference between them and the 'scratch' handicap player. 18 hole handicaps will be halved and if odd, half strokes will be used. Scorecards will be supplied with strokes identified.Points will be accumulated in each match as follows: 1 points for winning hole1/2 points for tying hole0 points for losing holeThe most points that can be won in a single match is six (6). The winning team from each flight will be the team with the most points after the five matches. The winners of each flight will take part in the Shoot Out to determine the overall championship.
FLIGHT WINNER TIE BREAKTies will be broken by the result of the head to head match between the tied teams. In the event that more than two teams are tied, the most points scored in all head to head matches will be the winner. If two teams remain tied, there will be a card-off in the head to head match, comparing holes 4-9 total points then holes 7-9, then hole 9. If there is still a tie, there will be a coin toss.
The Shoot Out will include the winners of each flight. The Shoot Out will start on Tide #6, followed by Tide 7, Tide 8, and Tide 9. If there is a tie, remaining teams will go to Timber 1, etc. until a winner is determined.
The format is a twosome: Each team will select a player to drive the even holes; the other will drive the odd holes. Players alternate until the ball is holed. All teams will play all four holes. The team with the lowest total score will be the winner. Stroke play rules apply. Local Rules: Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. The following Local Rules are in effect: "Ground Under Repair" has been marked. In the event that obvious course damage (tire ruts, animal damage, etc.) has not been marked, relief may be taken if both teams are in agreement that the condition is GUR. Note that bare spots are not considered GUR. French drains are GUR. Boom chains and their posts are immovable obstructions. Players may take relief under Rule 24-2. Stones in bunkers are movable obstructions. Players may take relief under Rule 24-1. If a ball lies in a green staked, barked or planted area relief must be taken under Rule 25-1b (GUR). The ball need not be found to take relief. A ball embedded in its own pitch-mark in the ground, through the green, may be lifted, cleaned and dropped, without penalty, as near as possible to the spot where it lay but not nearer the hole. Tee shots entering the lateral water hazard on the left of Tide #5 fairway, unless found in the hazard, are deemed to be lost in the hazard. Balls visible on the far bank of the hazard are on private property and must not be retrieved. Players should proceed under Rule 26-1 (water hazard). Trail canyons: if a tee shot is lost on Trail holes #1, #3, #5, #7, #8, and #9 the player may, under penalty of one stroke, (hole #1) drop a ball in the ball drop area and (holes #3, #5, #7, #8, and #9) drop a ball on the forward gold tee box.
