Treasurer’s Report (Jack McKay): -
Approved: year was a success, closed with balance of approx. $2000 " up from 2006.
Old Business:
Report On Greens Committee Meeting (Wayne Samples): No report.
New Member Mentoring Program (Doug Herring): - Doug opened discussion on a plan, similar to the approach used by the Yacht Club, for sponsoring/mentoring new members. George endorsed the idea. A motion was approved for George to draft a plan that would include a breakfast session with new members to go over club rules and activities. The plan will be reviewed at the next board meeting.
New Business:
Tournament/Event Calendar for 2008 (John Cragoe): - A few minor changes were suggested: identifying (6/11/08) for the Prostate Cancer Day and moving the July medal tournament concurrent with the 4 man best ball on 7/2/08. Doug feels the Mr & Mrs Tournament can be improved and will make recommendations at future meetings. Date and location for the Spring Meeting will be set at the Jan Board Meeting.
New Tee Box Policy " Implementation Plan (Doug Herring) Approved by vote of MGA members at October dinner. Discussed incorporation in By-Laws and potential problems when a handicap fluctuates above and below 19. No conclusions reached.
Wednesday Posting Policy (Doug Herring) Motion approved that MGA participants post their scores. Method to monitor and provide feedback on errors is to be developed, possibly involving staff. Wayne Samples will prepare a pitch to train members on the subject.
Rules-Of-Golf Training for Members (Joe Kelly) Will be included in the new member breakfast orientation. Dick Bozanich will assist Joe in putting together an instruction on key rules, focusing on those most significant/misinterpreted in MGA events.
New Business Cont.:
PLMGA Calendar (Jack Mckay) Jack presented a 2008 calendar he created as a potential MGA revenue source. Discussion ensued as to whether it should be published or given a trial run for 2008, content - including incorporation of other golf groups, quantity, price, giving proceeds to charity, marketing, distribution and potential audience. Conclusion was to post a model on the club house bulletin board with a sign-up sheet. Jack, with assistance for Mike and John will formalized content and establish price.
2008 Prostate Cancer Program Up-Date (Dick Bozanich): - Date of 11 June tentatively set. George and Wayne will work with Dick on details for the event.
Structure and Board Member Responsibilities for 2008 (Doug Herring) Subject discussed. No changes to current practice planned.
Maintenance Crew Appreciation Day (Doug Herring) Event will be held this year. Detailed planning to be completed later.
2008 Board Meeting Dates (Doug Herring) Meeting dates for 2008 were distributed by Doug.
