President’s Cup

President’s Cup

  1. This tournament will be played by flights, with Match play format, using full handicap.
  2. The President’s Cup is normally played around June 1st.
  3. All participants are guaranteed a minimum of two (2) matches (a bye is not considered a match) and if a participant(s)  lose in their second match whether it be in  the winners or consolation bracket, that participant (or participants) is eliminated from further competition.
  4. If a participant(s) win a match by forfeit, that is considered as one (1) match.  Any subsequent loss automatically eliminates the participant(s) from further competition.
  5. A first round bye is not to be considered as a match.  Any participant(s) who lose following a bye must be accorded a position in the consolation bracket.
  6. Flights are determined based on the handicap index (not the handicap for the Port Ludlow course) of all participants.
  7. Once flights are determined, do not pair participants form different flights.
  8. Consult with the Head Pro when establishing the President’s Cup Tournament Pairing Sheet.  If that is not possible, consult with the MGA Board for advice.  (See attache “A” entitled Tournament Pairing Sheet example.)
  9. Flight winners will be presented with an appropriate trophy at the Annual Awards Banquet.
  10. Upon recommendation of the Tournament Chair, the Board will determine entry fee and the number of payouts for each flight.
  • Other suggested recommendations:
  • Flight “A” (lowest handicaps) should consist of 16 players.
  • All participants must play on the first  Wednesday of the President’s Cup
  • All further matches must be completed on or before the next Wednesday.  (You can play your next match on a Wednesday as part of the regular Wednesday golf event.)
